Ganesh Utsav Samithi's aim is to create a spiritual significant environment for Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Milton Keynes where invaluable spiritual benefits like the indescribable experience of the Deitys (Lord Ganeshas) presence, Inner peace (Shanti), Bliss (Anand), etc., are attained from the celebration"
Ganesh Utsav 2024
Ganesh Utsav Samithi was formed in 2010 by four people that hail from India and are settled in Milton Keynes, UK. Motivation behind forming this Samithi is to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi collectively with all the people in and around Milton Keynes, UK who are interested to participate and feel the devotional spirit in collective celebration.
Ganesh Utsav Samithi is an unincorporated non-profit association with a group of like-minded individuals in and arounGanesh Utsav Samithi is self regulated with its own rules and own management structure. Ganesh Utsav Samithi is not a legal entity and members remain individually and personally liable for any contractual commitments entered into.
In many cases, Indians or Hindus outside India tend to view festivals as more of cultural/social events than religious / spiritual ones. They are seen as an opportunity to getting in touch with the local Indian community in an effort to re-live the social customs from back "home" in India. Although most of the festivals celebrated include all the rituals, they seem to lack devotion and spiritual emotion. Lack of understanding of the spiritual significance of the festivals in many cases led to lack of faith and devotion in performing and participating in the celebrations.
Ganesh Utsav Samithi believes that one obtains maximum benefits from a ritual if it is performed with faith and intense devotion. One can perform rituals with most faith when one understands the science behind the rituals and performs them in accordance with spiritual principles.
Our Utsav extends to all people, regardless of their religious beliefs, Gender, Age, Race, Community, Locality or ethnic background. We have been taking the lead in organising and celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Milton Keynes since 2010 and intend to continue to celebrate every year.
This year's utsav saw a diverse representation from the community and included day long activities with Puja, aarthis at regular intervals, Ganesh Katha, Cultural programs, Laddu auction and Nimajjan carried out at the lake. Please follow our social media updates for more information
10th year utsav was celebrated on 11th September 2019 at Stantonbury campus and was attended by 2000 community members. Nimajjanam was performed near Caldecotte lake.
